I-80 PONY LEAGUE RULES 2010

1. Any youth may participate in the league provided he is in the 7th or
8th grade (or younger) and does not turn15 before the current season begins.
Exceptions will be voted on at the spring meeting.

2. Games will begin at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise posted in the
schedule. In the event of cancellations due to weather, the home team shall
notify the visiting team as soon as possible, but no later than 4:00 p.m on
the game day.

3. The home team will be responsible for providing two umpires who are
knowledgeable of the game and existing rules.

4. Bases will be 80 feet apart and the pitching rubber 55 feet from
home plate.

5. All players and bat boys will be required to wear batting helmets
with ear protectors while running the bases. If a player is an acting coach,
he must wear a batting helmet. All batting helmets must be equipped with a
face guard.

6. Catchers must wear skull caps and throat guards while warming up and
catching.

7. All players in the field must wear alike caps. All teams must have
numbers on their uniforms.

8. Games will be 7 innings in length. Run rule will be15 after 3
innings,10 after 4 innings, & 8 after 5 innings.
If a game is called because of weather or darkness, it will only
count as a full game if four innings have been completed, unless the home
team is ahead after three and a half complete innings.

9. Re-entry rule will be in effect. Starters may be removed from the
game and re-entered one time as long as they re-enter in their original
batting order.

10. There will be a designated hitter rule. Teams will only bat 9
players. Once a designated hitter enters the game as a player, the team will
then lose their designated hitter for the remainder of the game.*OPTION-
Teams may use continuous bat. Coaches will declare before the game starts
their intent to use continuous bat. Both teams do NOT have to use this
option.

11. Teams may start a game with eight players, but will take an
automatic out each time the number 9 batter comes up in the batting order,
until a ninth player arrives.

12. Courtesy runners for Pitcher/Catcher ONLY–same runner must be used
through-out the game, unless the courtesy runner is inserted into the line-
up at that time there will be no courtesy runner.

13. If a play at a base is close, the runner must slide; the player
causing deliberate confrontation will be called out; the play becomes dead..

14. If there are 2 scheduled games at one field on the same night, there
will be a one hour 45 minute time limit on both games. No new inning can
start after one hour and 45 minutes, unless there is a tie.

15. No player, coach or any person associated with any team shall use or
have any tobacco product on the field or in the dugout area. No coach or
player will abuse, heckle, or make uncomplimentary remarks whatsoever to any
opposing player or team official. Any individual in violation will be given
a warning, upon a second warning the game could be called on a forfeit.

16. A player roster listing each player’s full name and date of birth
shall be submitted no later than May 15th . Rosters may be altered at any
time prior to July 1st by notifying the president. In special cases it is
possible to alter the roster after the deadline only with the approval of
the “Board of Coaches”. Rosters should be sent to Pat Sanley, or emailed to
Rec@cityofsewardne.com. The season will begin May 18th .
There is a $20.00 entry fee, payable before May 15th
2010 to I-80 Pony League. Send to Pat Sanley, PO Box 38, Seward, NE
68434. The entry fee will double after May 15th, triple after May 18th and
so on--- up to $100.00.

17. If there is a question about the age of a player a coach may be
asked to provide proof of age (i.e. copy of birth certificate school id etc.)

18. A league “Board of Coaches” was established for the purpose of
settling disputes, protests and other matters that may arise. The Board
consists of one representative from each team.

19. Coaches will be asked to call in season records by 12 noon July
8th. There will be two tournaments, a North and South division with the
winners from each playing for the championship. The tournaments will be held
in Pleasant Dale and David City starting July 10. Championship game will be
in David City. Gate fee set in 2006 @ $3.00 adults and $2.00 students for
tournaments only.

No “select” team will be allowed in the league. If try-outs are used
to establish a team, that team may NOT participate in the I-80 Pony League.
A team may ask for a vote of the board.
